So what was it all about ???

San Juan - Tahua

This was the day we rode over the Salt Flats.

This was another day my pre-conceptions were corrected. I knew we were going to the Salt Flats but I assumed it was a patch of salf that was a few kilometers across.
It was, in fact sooo much bigger than I expected. Over 100km across. Once on there all you could see was slat and mountians in the distance.

The first thing we did was stop on the edge at a little town and filled up with fuel. Then it was onto the Salt Flats.
Mark (our guide) gave us only 1 rule. Go anywhere you like but make sure you keep him in sight. As, people have been known to get disoriented, lost and run out of fuel on the flats.

On the flats we had plenty of photo oppertunities.

After the flats we head to an ancient burial tomb in the mountains (near where we were staing that night). Then onto our digs.
Which were at the base of an active volcano. We got there just in time to see the sun set over the salt flats. Spectaular !!!
