So what was it all about ??? |
San Juan - Tahua |
This was the day we rode over the Salt Flats. |
This was another day my pre-conceptions were corrected. I knew we were going to the Salt Flats but I assumed it was a patch of salf that was a few kilometers across. |
It was, in fact sooo much bigger than I expected. Over 100km across. Once on there all you could see was slat and mountians in the distance. |
The first thing we did was stop on the edge at a little town and filled up with fuel. Then it was onto the Salt Flats. |
Mark (our guide) gave us only 1 rule. Go anywhere you like but make sure you keep him in sight. As, people have been known to get disoriented, lost and run out of fuel on the flats. |
On the flats we had plenty of photo oppertunities. |
After the flats we head to an ancient burial tomb in the mountains (near where we were staing that night). Then onto our digs. |
Which were at the base of an active volcano. We got there just in time to see the sun set over the salt flats. Spectaular !!! |
