Just a nice short break with Mum and Dad. We decided that it would be nice to visit Peak District.
Found a little place in Edale it was called Buckley Bed Cottages. The owners, who lived in the cottage next door were great. When we arrived they had left a freshly baked Cake on the side for us.
To get there we headed up the A1 to Newark, turned off towards Ollerton were we stopped at the "The Snooty Fox" for Lunch. Afterwards we continued on through Sherwood Forest heading towards Worksop. After that it was main roads all the way to Edale.
Edale is right in the middle of the Peak Districk National Park (Derbyshire). It is a small village that marks the Official start to the Pennie Way. The nearest "main" village with, a "7-11" style General Store, is Hope (about 5 miles away).
As there isn't much in Edale other than 2 Pubs, a Camp site, and a few house, so we visited the shop in Hope every day. Which was easy as all roads (and there were only 2 of them) leaving Edale end up in Hope anyway.
We spent our time touring around the area, and through the National Park. Taking in various things from Stately Homes and their grounds to visiting Holmfirth. Holmfirth is the Town that was used in the filming of Last of the Sumers Wines, a comedy that always makes me laugh.
All in all we visited some interesting places and saw some great scenery. My personal favorate was seeing Holmfirth and Sid's Cafe.
The journey homes was pretty much the reverse of the one we used at the beginning. We even managed to find "The Snooty Fox" again and took lunch there as we knew it was good. Which was impressive considering we didnt have a map.
