What happened today . . .

The journey to Simla (pronounced Shimla, I think) was long. 2 * 6 hour train journeys.

The first on an over night train from Delhi to Kandaha (pronounced Chandigarh). And the second a much more pleasant, narrow gauge, train. Which left Kandaha and wound its way up the mountain to Simla.

Everyone was awake now, so plenty of time to find out who everyone was.

This train ride up mountain is the same one featured in one of Michael Palines travel programs.

Worst bit of the train ride, for me, was falling off the train. I landed on my backside – ouch !!! If you have a weak stomach make sure you skip over the photo of my bruise – it's not pretty (and I don't mean the bruise !!!).

After we reached Simla it was a short Taxi ride to the Hotel. Quick scrub up, food, then our first sight of the Royal Enfield 500 that was to become our new best Friend for the next 2 weeks.

A point of interest. Although Simla was one of the lowest altitudes we stayed at on the trip, It was in fact quite a bit higher than anywhere in the whole of the UK. Over 2000 meter in fact.
