So, what do I think of this Bike ??? |
Another Winter Hack and my first single cylinder 4-stroke bike. |
I got this from a little Bike Shop in Basildon. From memeory I think it was called Swan Motorcycles but tat could be wrong. It was run by a couple of old guys and has long since closed. |
I had always been told single cylinder 4-stroke bike could be a pig to kick over and this bike didn't have an electric start. Doh !!!. |
Actually it was just a case of getting the nack. Once I'd down it a few times it was easy. |
Over the time I had the bike the exhaust rotted. You couldn't get a replacement, genuine or after market, for love nor money. So, it was a trip down the local car spare shop. |
I purchased some GumGum exhast paste, a couple of big Jubilee Clips, and some flexi-pipe. To this collection of bits I added an old Baked Bean can, Heinz of course (nothing but the best for my bike). |
Headed out to the bike with the bit and my tools. To do a DIY repair on the bike. |
Well it may have been a bodge by todays standards (and even the standards back then) and it certainly wouldn't pass an MOT now a days but it worked. |
Rode around on it for years with the bodge in place. OK, I had to revisit the repair a few time with some more GumGum and a new Bean can. |
Who says Heath Robinson repairs don't last. |
